Children’s Kindergarten to Fifth Grade Faith Formation

Faith formation classes for children in kindergarten to fifth grade aim to strengthen their relationship to God and the church.  Faith formation classes (also known as CCD) typically begin in late September and end late April.  The classes are held in the Tots-N-Tikes daycare building next to the church and run from 8:45 a.m. to 9:45 a.m.

Each month, a family day occurs in which the children’s families can join them for an exciting activity.  A children’s mass and liturgy of the word are also woven into the program.  Children in K-2nd grade take part in the liturgy of the word, while children in 3rd to 5th grade act as ushers, readers, gift-carriers, and altar servers.

General Curriculum

Children in kindergarten and first grade learn about the Catholic Church and the basic prayers in preparation for second grade.

Children in second grade prepare for the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. These children and parents are required to attend 3 additional meetings/retreats to help them prepare for the sacraments.  More information will be provided to families through faith formation correspondence.

Children in third, fourth, and fifth grade continue their faith formation in the Catholic faith as the journey towards Confirmation.
